Own Your Digital World (“we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights.
1. What We Collect
Account & Purchase Data
- Name, email address, billing/shipping address, phone number (if you provide it) via WooCommerce and our Upsell plugins.
- Payment details (credit card, PayPal) handled directly by Stripe or PayPal - we don’t store full card numbers.
Course Platform Data
- AcademyLMS is a WordPress course plugin that we use; all course-related data (progress, login IPs, quiz answers, etc.) stays on our site’s database. The plugin creators and third parties do not access this data.
Communications
- Emails you send us when you contact support or give feedback.
Automatically Collected Data
- IP address, browser type, device info, and pages visited, via server logs and (soon) analytics tools.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Fulfill Orders & Deliver Products: Create your account, process transactions, deliver downloads, and grant course access.
- Email Communication: Send freebies, receipts, product updates, upsell offers, and our occasional newsletter.
- Improvement & Analytics: With your consent, use Google Analytics (or similar) and Hotjar to see how the Site performs and how we can make it better.
- Legal & Security: Prevent fraud, handle disputes, and comply with legal obligations.
3. Cookies & Tracking
- We’ll display a cookie-consent banner. If you agree, we’ll drop cookies and run tracking scripts (e.g., Google Analytics) to optimize your experience.
- You can always withdraw consent via the banner or your browser settings.
- If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
- If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
- When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select "Remember Me", your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
- If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
4. Comments
- When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
- An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
5. Embedded content from other websites
- Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
- These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
6. Sharing & Disclosure
- Service Providers: Stripe, PayPal, WooCommerce & Upsell plugins, our email platform (e.g., MailerLite) - only to process payments and send emails.
- No Data Selling: We never sell or rent your data.
- Legal Requests: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights.
- If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
- Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
7. Data Retention & Removal
- We keep your data as long as you have an active account or subscription, or until you ask us to delete it. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
- To request access, correction, or deletion (GDPR/CCPA-style), email service@ownyourdigitalworld.com. We’ll respond promptly.
8. Security
- We enforce HTTPS/SSL for all data in transit.
- A security plugin monitors and protects against threats.
- While we follow best practices, no system is perfect, if you spot something off, please let us know.
9. Children’s Privacy
- Our Products are for adults (18+). We don’t knowingly collect information from minors. If we learn we’ve received data from someone under 18, we’ll delete it immediately.
10. Changes to This Policy
- We may update this Policy to reflect new services or legal requirements. Major changes will be announced on-site and via email if appropriate. Your continued use implies acceptance.
